Declarable Allergens and Dietary Restrictions are a key component of a Resident's Dietary Information.
Declarable Allergens and Dietary Restrictions affect Order Forms by blocking meals which are unsuitable for the Resident, based on the allergens or other allergies caused by underlying recipe ingredients.
In our Catering module we differentiate these as follows:
Declarable Allergens
These are the 15 most common Declarable Allergens:
- Animal Milk
- Celery
- Crustaceans
- Eggs
- Fish
- Gluten (in wheat, oats, rye and barley)
- Lupin
- Molluscs
- Mustard
- Peanut
- Sesame Seed
- Soya
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites
- Tree nuts
- Wheat gluten (gliadin)
One or more of the above declarable allergens can be selected for a Resident by ticking the checkbox against the allergen's name.
Dietary Restrictions
In some cases, a Resident may have an allergy in addition to the above list.
In this case, there is a further comprehensive list of over 100 Dietary Restrictions available, that the site can tick for the Resident. If the Resident has a Dietary Restriction that does not appear on the list, please contact our support team with the details and we will add this to Dietary Settings on your behalf. Once a new Dietary Restriction is added in Dietary Settings, it becomes available for selection in a Resident's profile, under the Dietary Restrictions heading.
